ASA Completed the Study of "Chinese Apparel exporters' Order Processing for U.S. Apparel Importers"

Apparel Sourcing America completed the study of "Chinese Apparel manufacturers' Order Processing for U.S. Apparel Importers" recently. The purpose of this research is twofold: (1) to help U.S. apparel importers establish good relationships with Chinese contractors by examining their export order processing and understanding their perceptions of future exporting from China to the U.S. (2) to explore an under-researched area in academics. In order to find detailed information from Chinese apparel manufacturers' points of view, the researcher designed a questionnaire concentrating on an investigation of Chinese apparel manufacturers' order processing practices. Four research questions were addressed: (1) what is the current order process for the seven stages of exporting operations; (2) do Chinese apparel contractors perceive the importance of various types of costs differently; (3) do Chinese apparel contractors perceive the importance of various contract terms differently; and, (4) do Chinese apparel contractors have different attitudes toward future development of exporting to the U.S.

The resultsindicated that the perceptions of importance of certain costs in order processing differed among Chinese apparel contractors and also revealed that the perceptions of importance of contract terms differed among Chinese apparel contractors. In addition, some inferences were drawn concerning Chinese apparel contractors' expectations of the development of apparel exports from China to the U.S.
